As part of the big 15-minute Starfield gameplay presentation the other day we got glimpses at dialogue scenes played out in first-person - ala classic Bethesda Game Studios RPGs like Skyrim and Fallout 3. The studio's most recent game, Fallout 4, went with a fully voiced protagonist and a Mass Effect-style dialogue wheel. In Starfield it's out with the new and in with the old.

With Bethesda taking to Twitter to confirm that you will be in control of a silent protagonist (no voice acting) with all character interaction to play out in first-person.

Starfield looks to dig deep into the RPG side of things for the studio, with an in-depth character creator that extends to background traits, skill trees, and plenty of customisation. Which then extends to being able to build your own spaceship and spaceport. Factions will play a big role too, and with this traditional approach to NPC interaction Starfield will feel every bit like a classic Bethesda RPG. And it's probably safe to assume there'll be plenty of Skill checks in there too.
