I'd be surprised if you got more than $1k for it, but gl with the sale.
|
i dont know what its all worth these days but still plays anything on full detail smoothly.
1500? including monitor and stuff also |
I could build a new system more powerful than that for less than $1500.....

yeah resale on compys these days is almost pointless given the price of new components
|
also my system included ram and HDD & DVD.. if your not selling it with those, chop another ~$150 out of your sale price. So $750-850 maybe.
|
How does a bent cpu pin stop you from accessing two ram slots?
|
I'll buy your 5970
$200 Want to Crossfire it with my existing one. last edited by HERMITech at 16:42:39 28/Apr/12 |
How does a bent cpu pin stop you from accessing two ram slots? Err maybe since LGA1366 uses over 300 out of 1366 pins for RAM access, having bent pins that aren't making a proper connection will causes glitches on slots that use a particular pin? yeah resale on compys these days is almost pointless given the price of new components Yes the key here is that for the same price you can build a new box with easily twice the performance, and with full warranty. |
Gigabyte x58a-ud7 rev 2 motherboard also have a rev 1.0 of this board but with a few bent cpu pins that stop usage of 2 of the 6 memory slots FYI: Costs about $80 to get this repaired by Gigabyte + freight. |
how the f*** do you bend the pins on a modern CPU socket? I thought they were just little spring loaded balls or something anyway, not like an old CPU that actually had pins
|
I thought they were just little spring loaded balls or something anyway, not like an old CPU that actually had pins LGA1366 has pin-like structures on the mobo side. Random link from the interwebs: http://www.overclock3d.net/gfx/articles/2008/10/13103915832l.jpg |
I have that CPU cooler, does a good job.
|
How much for the CPU cooler? Out of curiosity.
|
thanks bruz |
LGA1366 has pin-like structures on the mobo side. Random link from the interwebs: Which still leaves me wondering how on earth you bend those things. |
price that i just plucked out of a hat would be around 2k for the lot, what do you guys think? more or less? http://ihasahotdog.files.wordpress.com/2011/08/funny-dog-pictures-not-sure-if-trolling-or-just-stupid.jpg I'll buy for $400 to bang in the office.. inbox if keen. |
lol low balling f***. remind me not to sell anything on here.
|
You're not going to get much from people here for old gen gear.
Questions that need answering: How long ago did you purchase this? How much warranty is left? Like the 5970 was released at tail end of 2009 if I remember correctly, which wouldn't leave much warranty left, if any at all. You might have a better chance of putting a 500GB HDD in it and pawning it off on trading post or something. Otherwise split the parts, you'd make more. Hell Hermi offered $200 for the video card already. What's with the lack of back covers? |
Not trolling, just wasn't sure what s*** is worth these days I haven't been keeping up in the game because I haven't needed ot upgrade.. I thought the 5970 would be still worth a bit cause its a dual gpu but yeah.
The case still has all the panels they just were not in the pic because i was cleaning it. so would I get any interest on here for the lot @ $940? i have had someone offer more than 200 for the card hermi so if you want it throw me your best price. After doing a bit of research ive found the oc'd 5970's still go for around 500-600 new, but because il be overseas soon and i cbf paying for the postage of this thing I thought I would unload it cheap but for a reasonable price. If anyone is interested in parts let me know asap and if anyone is really interested in the whole lot il leave it up for a week if no one gets it then il part it out. contact me on facebook watch this space. |
How much for the 22" and does it have dead pixels?
|
Only real problem is that it's a dead socket so you can't exactly upgrade from this machine. It's fine now, but you can only ever replace the video card and ram. The cpu won't ever change so..
Which is why I'm guessing you're knocking it out because you can't really do much else with it. |
that's pretty much always the case though. new cpu = new everything
|
i have had someone offer more than 200 for the card hermi so if you want it throw me your best price. $200 and I'll collect (I'm in Bris). How much warranty is left? Like the 5970 was released at tail end of 2009 if I remember correctly, which wouldn't leave much warranty left, if any at all. Correct. Mine's almost out of warranty. Sorry Rdizz, I actually think I'm being generous. It's not worth anymore than that, specially being almost 3 years old. Nice fish you hooked for anything more than that :) |
I tend to get 2 per socket, buy a good motherboard, oveclock the s*** out of my cpu and then when it's getting old buy another CPU to try and skip a socket.
I skipped 1366 hopefully get 2 with 1155 too. |
Pay me $50 and I'll laugh at you.
Ok, just pay me the $50.... |
I'll give you $120 for the screen if you can include delivery?
|
I don't understand how on earth you figured $2k was reasonable
|
Not trolling, just wasn't sure what s*** is worth these days I haven't been keeping up in the game because I haven't needed ot upgrade.. well just for future reference, it's not worth more than it would cost to replace it there's a free pro tip for you |
As much as teh 5970 is a 'dual processor' unit, I can't imagine it's worth much more than $200 (if even).
It's second hand (there's no guarantee or warranties on it's reliability) it's now 2 generations old (ok, it still performs well, but yea, old tech is old) and the newer gen cards are supercheap (as the tech market has slowed a lot in recent years). The bottom line (IF I were in a buying market) the whole PC is second hand, and if you've ever OC'd it, who know's what sort of operating condition it's in. The amount you're asking is an indication of how quickly you want to sell it. If you're looking to recoup your costs, I doubt this is the place to sell it. (If you're looking to offset the costs of your new rig however... get what you 'can' for it, and move on) |
Also consider alternative uses for the machine
Like bitmining hahahaha |
FYI - Offer on the vid card still stands.
