http://thedrum.co.uk/news/2011/11/09/adobe-about-face-flash-dropped-mobiles

Adobe has handed Apple's Steve Jobs a belated victory with its announcement today that it is stopping development of its Flash player software for mobile devices .Instead it will focus its efforts on HTML 5.

Jobs had long insisted that that Flash media streaming technology wasn't suitable for low-power mobile devices.

He's not right until websites have stopped using it. His first 3 phones sure didn't fit into that category because they didn't survive long enough to make it into the generation where flash is actually dropped. Not sure his latest ones will either.

Dropping support for flash doesn't come from adobe, it comes from people who make s*** in flash. They need to move on.

This attitude is annoying. Sorry Android fans? For what? Because Android can run Flash? What exactly are Android users missing out on that iOS users aren't? They're not even abandoning Flash, as they'll still be releasing security fixes and the like.

I'm not going to defend Flash, since I'm more than happy for the web to transition over to HTML5 where applicable, but seriously, pretty much every major website on the planet still uses Flash for embedded video, which I can play flawlessly on my phone and tablet, and will continue doing for some time. What exactly are all of these Apple fanboys getting snarky about? Because their dead overlord didn't like Flash?

Hopefully when Adobe invests enough in HTML5 they'll be helping people move away from Flash completely.
