The AMD Ryzen 7800X3D is the latest CPU to join the Zen 4-based Ryzen 7000 series of processors, and with its innovative vertical cache it's designed to deliver the best in gaming performance while being more power efficient. We compare it to the non-3D and more expensive AMD Ryzen 7900X we reviewed last year.

A snippet.
Last year we had the opportunity to check out and review a few of the latest CPUs from AMD with the launch of the impressive Zen 4 architecture-based Ryzen 7000 series, with the new range of processors delivering exceptional results across the board. For creators and PC gamers, the boost to single-core and multi-threaded performance and the new efficient 5nm architecture present the sort of generational leap you’d expect - plus a little more for good measure.

What exactly does the addition of 3D bring to the table, specifically with the highly anticipated release of the AMD Ryzen 7800X3D? Well, it’s all about 3D V-Cache and how AMD’s innovative 3D vertical cache brings massive improvements to game performance above all else.

Not that you need to know how 3D stacking of cache works, nor do we fully grasp exactly how it works - but the effects were already seen with the impressive AMD Ryzen 5800X3D from a few years ago.

When looking at a CPU for pure gaming performance, especially when paired with a 1080p or 1440p display, the AMD Ryzen 5800X3D is still considered one of the best in price, performance, and overall efficiency. So it’s no wonder the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D has been one of the most talked about CPU launches for PC gaming.
