SSM, yeah, BOSE are crap, thats why they are now one of the most popular home cinema speaker setups around. They produce awesome sound, quality parts and are reasonably priced....
must be s*** |
if your looking for somthing your gonna listen to music for get a good pair of main speakers from JB HI-FI
but if your going for surround sound the way to go is bose. also the model of that speaker is DTX TG60 's |
Impella, thats $600 for the pair? thats pretty nice :)

Dont be stupid, Eds. You surely know better than that. If I've learnt one thing from having computers as a hobby its that popularity doesnt always equate to quality. Look at the all the examples in the computer hardware market where a superior product is unpopular because the competitor has a bigger advertsing market. The reverse applies. If I had to reccomend a brand of speaker that isnt horrifyingly expensive I'd say B&W. I like them. If you have millions (well, tens of thousands at least), buy Wilson audio products :) |
yea those speakers were $600 and i got $150 off cause i got them the week after christmas after all the sales n s***
|
get bose they are cool i have them :D sound quality is good and they can go nice and loud if you want even though they are sooo small
|
Fark I hate seeing no brain replies like that of SSM. You obviously know nothing about the subject so STFU and go away. Bose is a fantastic brand with great products. I only wish I could afford them.

E.T. Im very familiar with Bose products. I've listened to them a lot. I came very close to buying a full set of home theatre micro and full size speakers (I was gonna be able to get them cheap). In the end I did not. They do not warrant either the exhorbiant price tag or thier reputation in some circles as the best speakers on the market, at least in my humble opinion. I'd take some B&W speakers over them any day, even if the price was the same. Good sir, I bid you f*** off. |
i woudlnt get bose.. i was thinking aobut it cause i see them all in shops in the city but then i wen to jb hi-fi and changed my mind
|
I can vouch for both the wharfedale valdus and diamond ranges. Crips clear sounds. Very loud and bassy on the valdus range, wharfedale call them "home DJ" speakers.
Both are round the $700-$800 mark for the larger of each series. http://www.wharfedale.co.uk/ |
I would recommend VAF speakers. Australian made and the best value speaker in their price range that you can buy in AU. In my oppinion anyway.
Only prob is that you can only buy them direct from their SA factory showroom. They dont sell through resellers. They have won "Best Buy" awards for just about all of their speakers in most Australian HiFi/Home theatre mags. www.vaf.com.au I own a set of DC-X floorstanders. Top speakers for the money. Havn't heard anything better under $5000. There are plenty of other Australian made speaker manufaturers around that make far better value speakers then imported ones of the same cost. Duntech, Orpheus, Kef and Sonique are some that I can remember off the top of my head. Cage. |
get some magnat speakers.. s*** all over sony. you can get an entire surround package for 1600, sony front, sony rears, magnat left, magnat right and sony amp. sounded awesome for a semi beginner setup.

go there.... what ever part of stereo, look at len wallis audio website. This establishment, is very well known and respected. None of this jb hifi/brisbane car sound crap. |
My younger brother has a beautiful system that cost him the best part of 15k, NHT front floor standers, Denon 3802 Amp + denon dvd player, B&W Rears and centre and we built an 80ltr sonotube to replace his s***** db dynamics sub.
I would recommend VAF speakersA+++ I would recommmend them as well. |
Herbs, sounds like a sweet setup. Im just waiting for some money to fall into my hands so I can get a Denon AVR-5803 receiver, DVD-3800 DVD player and some more VAF speakers to fill out the room with :)
Damn computer and car upgrades keep depleting all my money reserves though. Cage. |
i got a bose lifestyle 12, ie, 10 cubey speakers and the sub box, cost me $3000, and yeah, it goes f***en loud and is crystal clear. but theyll never compare to a similar priced full range of speakers, purely because the drivers bose use physically cannot reproduced inteded mid range. my 2c anyway.
|
Herbs, sounds like a sweet setup You missed "My younger brother has a beautiful system" Its not mine, I wouldn’t pick some of the componets in his setup, as I like a lot of mid/high range sound as opposed to bass, because I lost the top half of my hearing. I prefer B&O amps as opposed to denon. |
yeah my dad has a bose home theater system and they are nices as, heaps of bass
