Last year an impressive Xbox showcase revealed to us The Last Case of Benedict Fox, an action-platformer with a highly stylised presentation wound together in what looks like a stellar story ad some very cool gameplay. Now we can learn for ourselves if those first impressions were right as the team has dropped a new demo for the game as part of Steam Next Fest while also sharing an all-new 16-minute developer video.
Step into 1925 Boston as the eponymous self-proclaimed detective to experience the deep mauve haze, sinister spires, foreboding footpaths, and unnerving reverberations of Limbo. As Benedict, you will delve further into oblivion to uncover the truth behind a mystifying family tragedy while answering to the whims of a demon that possesses his soul. Delve into memories of the dead through a chilling narrative interwoven with exhilarating combat and mind-bending puzzle design. Explore the arcane realms of life and death in the universe of Limbo as far as your psyche will allow, but beware, this case can easily consume you… leaving behind a never-ending and nightmarish comatose in its wake. Will this case be solved, or will you succumb to the insanity? So another so-called "Lovecraftian" finds its way to us this year on PC and Xbox Series X, April 27. We're going to be delving deep (get it?!) into what it actually means to proclaim "Lavecraftian" when writing or talking about your game from an expert on the subject, with a little background on the man himself and what mechanics can derive from his unique and masterful style of horror, so stay tuned.
