After the Activision Blizzard merger, the future was looking grim for Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, which was among the Vivendi Games titles that didn't make the cut.

Today however, Atari have announced that they will be publishing the title. In development by Starbreeze (The Chronicles of Riddick Escape from Butcher Bay, The Darkness) and originally planned as re-make of the acclaimed Escape from Butcher Bay, today's press release confirms that Dark Athena will contain an all-new full length campaign.
This exciting announcement promises a title which will include the original game re-imagined for a whole new audience, an entirely new chapter in the Riddick saga and, for the first time, intense online multiplayer combat, making The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena a must-have experience for any fan of intense action gaming.
A single new screenshot has also been released. The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena is due in the US Spring 2009 for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

The first game was actually pretty good. I was pleasantly suprised.
