Quake Live Goes Open Beta

Quake Live, id Software's free, web browser-based version of Quake 3, has now entered open beta after an extensive period of closed testing. You can sign up now for an account and get into the game but as Python points out, the site is getting whaled on and is a bit on the slow side, so have patience!

As yet we're still unclear as to what is happening on the server side - we certainly know we don't have any access to dedicated server software like every other FPS game that has been played and popular for the last 10 years or so.
