Thanks to S2 Games, we've got a bunch of trial keys for Heroes of Newerth available for AusGamers members!

If you haven't had a chance to check out this hot strategy game then now is your chance - as long as you're quick enough to get a key. The keys are good for 10 free games and are 100% free (no credit card information is required to redeem the key).

All you need to do is grab your key, download the latest client, and then head over to the official site to register a trial account.

I'm sure the game is great, but the players are such douches that the game is unplayable for me. I like games that are either challenging or relaxing; not straight out abusive.

This would have to be my most hated and loved games. I've managed to put a few holes into my desk after some high rage games (i.e. s***** team, including myself at like k/d of 1/15).

I was playing through both closed and open beta, bought the game for the cheap price of $30 and have been playing it off and once since.

This game has been uninstalled three times now with the reason being, I get too angry playing it and my wife doesn't like the aggression. However, it always somehow keeps getting re-installed with the month long breaks easing the rage.

If you haven't tried it before then definately get in on this trial. It's true that there are alot of tools on there, but that is much like any game. If you can get a few mates together to play with, it shouldn't be much of a drama.

Don't know about now, but I played a couple hundred games in beta and it was unlike any gaming community I have ever met.

This includes Diablo I at the height of the hacking and griefing.

Even /b/ has regarded this community as worse then themselves.

Sounds like they should have released publicly available dedicated servers and outsourced the problem of community management to GSPs, game communities, etc. Centrally trying to manage it has always seemed like an utter impossibility to me. I guess people see WoW doing it and figure "how hard can it be"!

This game is great. It's really the only thing I find myself going back to play these days.. Even after starcraft2 which held my interest for about 3 weeks. I agree the community is a bit flambouyant but it seems to have settled down a bit in the past few months. If you aren't a statwhore you should get heaps of fun out of it otherwise be prepared for cyber rage.

trog: I've got a feeling they don't want to stop it, that they have just settled with the community they have.

I play this game a fair bit and don't get any douches that much. And if I do, well I make them pay by not conceding and not helping them until they rage quit. Gives them a leave and hopefully their leave stats will get too high to ever play with me again.

Community is harsh, but only if you're a newcomer.

i ended up stopping this game too.. the community is just rubbish - when i started eve it was like moving into the twylight zone the two communities are so diametrically opposed its crazy.. quite surreal...

stress level of HoN - 9.5/10
stress level of Eve - 0.5/10

in my older age i dont need the stress

mmm, I think i've gone through two trial keys at different times already, both times there was no enjoyment to be had because of the other players.
If there were a group of people to play with regularly then maybe it'd be great, but it's just not worth it playing with random people.
