Funcom have announced today that they've launched a stack of new game content in Age of Conan, their free-to-play MMORPG set in the world of Conan the Barbarian:
Reception from the player-base to the content update has been extremely positive. In the update, players are embarking on exciting adventures to explore what remains of the temple created by the ancient Atlanteans. Here they must discover for themselves the true nature of the evil curses that beset the ancient race thousands of years ago. House of Crom comprises two vast dungeons, one social, and one instanced. The social dungeon supports multiple groups at the same time, allowing players to experience an open and shared MMO experience that harks back to the early days of MMO exploration, where players must co-operate in order to succeed. These areas are the largest indoor dungeons yet created for the game, and provide a fantastically epic, and massive, backdrop to the player's latest adventures.
The game can be downloaded for free from the official site, but it is over 20GB in size. We're chasing up a client that we can mirror and will update if we can sort that out.

As an ex-player, it needs more than new content to get new life.

After level 20 there was nothing. All voices stopped, there was a lot of unfinished zones and content dried up quickly.

main things I remember were not much pve content at the end game, and the melee combat system was really bad over a latent connection because of the way it worked - you'd hit a button for the special attack you wanted to do, then some arrows would pop up and you had to hit your arrow keys in the right order to make the special move go off. but it was really susceptible to not working properly when playing from australia - specially when some of the special attacks had 4 arrow keys to press in a row. I was mostly playing a dark templar post level 50 and it really relied on getting those special moves off to be able to self-heal and it sucked with the lag, half the time they wouldn't go off - you'd get the arrow key indicators, press the button and it wouldn't register, then you try again and the timer would expire and you're just sitting there doing white hits

not sure if they ever ended up changing or fixing that, didn't hang around long enough to find out and have never been back for another look
