Remedy's Alan Wake is about to disappear from stores the world over due to the 'expiration of music license agreements' for the game. Which is set to happen in the next few days. And with this news comes a final Alan Wake Sunset Sale where you can grab the game, and all content, with a 90% discount at both Steam and GOG.com. This is great value for the critically acclaimed game, and one that will disappear after today. So be sure to get in quick.

I've had a Steam key for this from a Humble Bundle purchase years ago, does this mean that they're taking away the buy option from the Stram store; or the game page and therefore any downloading of the game from the Steam network altogether?

It's weird yeah, about as weird as the game

It uses a lot of licensed music, at the end of each chapter, so yeah I can see how it could be an issue. Rock Band had the same problem, as the music licenses expired DLC was taken down from the online store because they weren't allowed to sell it anymore. If you had already bought it though you were fine to keep using it, so I'd assume its the same with Alan Wake

If the music is at the end of each chpater (I never noticed tbh), then could they release an update/patch/new version removing the music. Isn't that a better solution than outright removal of the game?

They probably could, but they probably my don't want to pay for it, you need to pay to certify any patches you release for games on Xbox (or PlayStation) and I doubt they're still selling enough copies to justify it
