With plans to debut their first project at The Game Awards next month. WolfEye Studios is headed up by ex-Arkane Studios (Dishonored and Prey) talent included one of Arkane's founders - Raphael Colantonio. He's joined by fellow Arkane alum Julien Roby.

In an interview with GameIndustry.biz, Raphael notes that going the new studio route are leaving Arkane in 2017 is a way to reconnect with the type of games he wants to make. And move away from the pressures of AAA production.

"With WolfEye, we really wanted to get back to the core ideas we both like in games, both as players and as designers," Raphael says. "We like games that respond to player actions, where the world reacts to what you are doing, and the experience is owned by the player. It was what we wanted to get back to rather than being constantly distracted by the complexity of doing games which are technically more involved, and little by little your focus in development moves away from the actual experience toward technicalities."

He adds that increased visual and presentation complexity has resulted in a few generations of games feeling the same. Currently WolfEye has around 20 developers working in a distributed fashion, with the goal being to stay small and agile enough to take risks with its projects.
