And if you're wondering what it sounds like there's a very cool THX demo after the jump - or you can watch the director's cut. Ahem. Available for all headphone and headset users the Razer THX Spatial Audio App for Windows 10 brings the impressive virtual 7.1 surround to all, which has previously been limited to recent Razer gaming headsets.

The result is some of the best headphone surround currently available, developed in partnership between Razer and the audio wizards at THX. The effect is immediate too - with accurate positioning and the compatibility with all stereo or surround signals. Plus, full customisation to tailor the surround for the best possible audio comfort. Here's a nice little demo, and something that reminds us of classic cinema going from the '90s and firing up the Star Wars DVDs for the first time.

The Razer THX Spatial Audio App for Windows 10 has been designed to work with all types and brands of headphones and earbuds, bringing the THX Spatial Audio experience to as many users as possible. Compatible with analogue 3.5mm headsets, USB and Bluetooth headphones, anyone can now upgrade their virtual 5.1, 7.1 or stereo audio experience with the Razer THX Spatial Audio App.

The Razer THX Spatial Audio App will also include an accompanying widget accessible via the Windows Game Bar for Windows 10 (Win + G) shortly after release, allowing for quick access to core features such as switching EQ profiles on the fly.

  • Superior Positional Accuracy from all sources: With sound that goes beyond 7.1 for more precise positional localisation
  • THX tuned: Creating a lifelike, realistic cinematic-quality sound stage
  • Surround Sound Calibration: Providing the most accurate positional audio, based upon on personalised hearing preferences
  • EQ Customisation and THX Pre-sets: Whether the listener prefers deeper bass or more clarity, the app can be balanced with mid, high and low frequencies
  • 3.5mm, Bluetooth and USB Compatible

There are many virtual surround offerings from a number of different companies, including one that comes in-built with Windows 10. THX Spatial Audio is definitely one of the more advanced and highly customisable offerings so it's great to see it made available to all.

The killer feature here is the Game Bar integration, letting you switch between profiles and settings on-the-fly in-game to suit different genres - from FPS to RTS to single-player cinematic adventures.

Pricing for the Razer THX Spatial Audio App is $16.45 AUD (for those upgrading from Razer's own 7.1 Surround) and $32.90 AUD (for full standard purchase). For more info - head here.
