As part of The Game Awards last week we got our first glimpse at Wildcard's ARK II, the follow-up to its popular and groundbreaking survival game. Created in-engine using game assets and real-time ray-tracing effects that are being baked into the game, it's a cinematic look at the Ark world starring none other than Vin Diesel himself. And today, we've got word that he's joining Wildcard as 'President of Creative Convergence'.

A title that sounds so made up that we're now fully on board. Vin Diesel has a long history of working closely with developers when it comes to titles that include his likeness so it'll be interesting to see how this pans out. He's also the Executive Producer on the upcoming ARK: The Animated Series which will feature the same character we see below. That is, Vin Diesel.

ARK II thrusts players into a brutal new world of primitive survival against both beast and man, facing down the ever-present threats of hyper-realistic intelligent dinosaurs, aggressive alien fauna, and the exotic environments of an unearthly planet. Survivors will continue ARK's dramatic eons-spanning story of humankind's evolution, in this next-generation sandbox survival experience!

This story trailer was rendered in-engine using real-time ray-tracing technology, and ARK II's game assets and lighting techniques.

ARK II is currently in development for next-gen consoles and PC with a planned 2021 release.
